It is possible to cheese this achievement by landing a single blow on the enemy flyer, and then have that other player either fly their aircraft out of range or cancel the spell (Esc key). I do not know if it's a bug.
Oh thank goodness. I think it a poor decision on some developer's part to give the flyer constant forward thrust (meaning the player can only control up/down and left/right movement); I was getting serious motion sickness, not to mention the little buggers are hard to see unless its controller uses its afterburners.
The earliest players will be able to earn this achievement is December 25, when presents - including 2013's Winter Veil Gift, Crashin' Thrashin' Flyer Controller - appear under the Winter Veil trees in Orgrimmar and Ironforge.

Posted Jul 25, 2013 (Patch 5.4.0)Seems like a reference to the song, "Highway to the Danger Zone" from the movie "Top Gun", and made by "Kenny Loggins"
Havent seen the movie, but the song is good! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siwpn14IE7E
