These quest items can be found in any coastal water in Pandaria, in the open or in schools. It does not have to be fished up in the special daily fishing area. The drop rate is supposed to be around 4%.
It turns in to Nat Pagle for 600 rep with him, 350 Anglers rep (excluding bonuses), five Valor Points, and one Lesser Charm.
Mimic Octopus is one of three fish you can turn in daily to Nat Pagle. Flying Tiger Gourami and Spinefish Alpha are the other two.
Mimic Octopus is found within coastal waters, most often outside of pools. As of 5.1, all three fish can be caught within pools.
Please note that all three fish are rather hard to catch, so prepare for quite a bit of fishing.
Each fish turn-in provides 500 rep with Nat Pagle (who works like individual Tiller Rep up to Best Friend), and 350 with The Anglers. Happy Fishing!
